VP of Research
Lead TAL Corp's research organisation — managing the team of scientists and engineers who are building toward AGI.
About This Role
The VP of Research manages the most talented scientific team TAL Corp has. You will own the research organisation structure, culture, publishing strategy, and the interface between research and product.
Responsibilities
- ▸Lead the full research organisation — alignment, capabilities, multimodal, and applied science
- ▸Build and maintain TAL Corp's scientific culture — intellectual honesty, ambition, and collaboration
- ▸Manage research headcount, budget, and compute allocation
- ▸Own the research publishing and open-source strategy
- ▸Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure research translates to impact
- ▸Build the scientific advisory board and external research partnerships
Requirements
- ▸PhD in Machine Learning or Computer Science
- ▸12+ years research experience with 5+ years managing research organisations
- ▸Strong publication record and recognition in the AI research community
- ▸Proven ability to attract and retain exceptional research talent
- ▸Experience managing large compute budgets and research infrastructure
Nice to Have
- ▸Prior VP Research or Research Director at a frontier AI lab
- ▸Experience bridging fundamental research and product applications
- ▸Deep network in the global AI research community
