Legal Counsel — AI & IP
Navigate the legal frontiers of AGI — advising TAL Corp on IP, liability, regulatory compliance, and the novel legal questions that arise from general intelligence.
About This Role
AI law is being written in real time. TAL Corp needs a legal mind that can stay ahead of that curve and help us build responsibly.
Responsibilities
- ▸Advise on AI-specific legal risks — liability, copyright, data rights, and model IP
- ▸Review and negotiate vendor, partnership, and data licensing agreements
- ▸Monitor evolving AI regulation globally and advise on compliance strategy
- ▸Partner with policy team on regulatory engagement and public positioning
- ▸Draft legal policies for model use, API access, and content moderation
Requirements
- ▸JD with active bar membership
- ▸5+ years legal experience with a focus on technology, IP, or regulatory law
- ▸Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and emerging AI regulation
- ▸Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers
- ▸Experience advising fast-moving technology companies
Nice to Have
- ▸Prior work at a tech company or AI lab
- ▸Background in data privacy law (GDPR, CCPA)
- ▸Understanding of open-source licensing and model IP issues
