Head of Engineering
Lead TAL Corp's entire engineering organisation — setting technical direction, building the team, and owning the systems that deliver AGI to the world.
About This Role
The Head of Engineering at TAL Corp owns everything from the API to the frontend. You will set the bar for technical excellence, recruit exceptional engineers, and build the culture that lets them do their best work.
Responsibilities
- ▸Own the engineering roadmap and execution across product, platform, and infrastructure
- ▸Recruit, develop, and retain a world-class engineering team of 50+ engineers
- ▸Set and enforce engineering standards — code quality, testing, security, reliability
- ▸Partner with the CTO on technical strategy and architecture decisions
- ▸Drive cross-functional alignment between engineering, research, product, and operations
- ▸Manage engineering budget, headcount planning, and vendor relationships
- ▸Lead engineering performance reviews, levelling, and career development frameworks
Requirements
- ▸BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- ▸12+ years software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership
- ▸Proven track record scaling engineering teams from startup to growth stage
- ▸Deep technical credibility — comfortable going deep on architecture and code
- ▸Experience leading full-stack organisations spanning frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- ▸Exceptional people leadership and organisational design skills
Nice to Have
- ▸Prior engineering leadership at an AI or ML company
- ▸Experience leading distributed or remote-first engineering teams
- ▸Background in developer tools, APIs, or platform products
