ML Engineer — Trainee

About This Role
Most ML engineers spend years working on recommendation systems or ad targeting. At TAL Corp, freshers work on models that push the boundary of what AI can do — from day one.
Responsibilities
- ▸Assist senior research engineers in running training experiments and ablation studies
- ▸Build evaluation scripts and benchmark harnesses for new model capabilities
- ▸Maintain and improve data preprocessing and tokenisation pipelines
- ▸Learn to profile GPU training runs and identify bottlenecks
- ▸Document experiments and results clearly in internal research logs
Requirements
- ▸BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics (graduated between 2019 and 2026)
- ▸Strong Python programming skills
- ▸Familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow through coursework or personal projects
- ▸Understanding of neural network fundamentals — backpropagation, optimisation, regularisation
- ▸Comfort with linear algebra, probability, and calculus
Nice to Have
- ▸Capstone project or thesis involving ML or deep learning
- ▸Kaggle competitions or ML research experience
- ▸Familiarity with HuggingFace Transformers or similar libraries
