Director of Data Engineering
Lead TAL Corp's data engineering function — the pipelines, platforms, and governance systems that feed our models and power our analytics.
About This Role
The Director of Data Engineering owns the data infrastructure that underpins both model training and product analytics.
Responsibilities
- ▸Lead the data engineering team across training data, analytics, and data platform
- ▸Own the data architecture strategy — warehouse, lakehouse, and streaming infrastructure
- ▸Drive data quality, governance, and lineage programmes
- ▸Partner with ML research on training data pipeline design and quality
- ▸Own data platform vendor relationships and tool selection
Requirements
- ▸BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
- ▸10+ years data engineering with 4+ years in leadership
- ▸Expert SQL, Python, and distributed data processing
- ▸Experience leading data engineering teams of 8+ engineers
- ▸Deep knowledge of modern data stack — dbt, Airflow, BigQuery/Snowflake, Kafka
Nice to Have
- ▸Background in ML data infrastructure and training data pipelines at scale
- ▸Experience with data mesh or data contract frameworks
- ▸Prior Director of Data Engineering at a tech or AI company
