Backend Engineer — Internal Platform
Build the internal developer platform that lets TAL engineers move faster — shared services, internal tooling, and platform abstractions.
About This Role
The best teams are enabled by great internal tooling. You will build the shared platform services that every TAL engineer depends on every day.
Responsibilities
- ▸Build and maintain shared microservices — auth, notifications, feature flags, config
- ▸Design internal developer portal and service catalogue
- ▸Own the internal event bus and async messaging infrastructure
- ▸Build developer productivity tooling — local dev environments, CLI tools, templates
- ▸Drive internal API standards and service mesh configuration
Requirements
- ▸BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- ▸4+ years backend engineering with a focus on platform or infrastructure
- ▸Strong Go, Python, or Node.js
- ▸Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, Pub/Sub, SQS)
- ▸Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
Nice to Have
- ▸Experience building internal developer platforms at scale
- ▸Background in platform engineering or developer enablement
- ▸Familiarity with Backstage or similar IDP tooling
